With your support, we can give even more animals a second chance at life.
To adopt one of our animals, you must:
The adoption fees vary and are listed below. It costs us about $400 to get an animal ready for adoption. Our adoption fees don’t come close to covering all the costs of rescuing and rehoming the thousands of animals who come to us in need of a second chance. Generous donations make up the difference. Care, commit and contribute by “paying it forward” and making a donation in addition to the adoption fee to help another homeless animal find a forever home.

The Houston SPCA has animals of all sizes, breeds, colors and ages who need permanent, loving homes. Many senior animals find their way to the shelter for a number of reasons. The truth is that age is just a number. Senior animals who are seven years or older are loyal, affectionate, require moderate exercise and are usually settled in their behavior.
The fee to adopt a “Golden Paws” pet is $45 for cats and $75 for dogs. Golden Paws animals receive the same adoption package.
The “Seniors for Seniors” program places senior cats and dogs (seven years of age and older) with senior citizens who are 65 years of age or older. The cost to adopt a “Seniors for Seniors” pet is $15. Seniors for Seniors animals come with the following adoption package.
Benefits of adopting a senior animal
Companion animals can help lower blood pressure and reduce stress.
Animal provide unconditional love and friendship.

Dogs encourage social interactions and activities.
Pets help ease the feeling of isolation and loneliness.
Intervening on behalf of nearly 50,000 animals in need each year is an expensive endeavor, and your generous donation today will help further our mission. Donating to the Houston SPCA is an investment in your community because your entire donation is used locally to benefit the animals of our area.
