Houston SPCA RESCUES 61 PUREBRED DOGS AT THE OWNER'S REQUEST

The Houston SPCA Cruelty Investigation Team removed 61 purebred Huskies, Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds at the request of their owner today in Waller County.   The owner is a breeder who sold these dogs to earn a living and became overwhelmed with the cost of their vaccinations and medical care due to the struggling economy.  He contacted the Houston SPCA and made the decision to relinquish the dogs to the organization when the two came to an agreement that this would be the best way to rehabilitate and rehome these canines.

The Houston SPCA Veterinary Team will begin conducting medical evaluations on all of the canines to determine their overall health.   In addition, our animal behavior team will evaluate each dog to ensure proper placement decisions.  The dogs’ pictures will be posted at www.houstonspca.org as soon as they are available for adoption.
