(HOUSTON) July 26, 2012 – Today the Houston SPCA rescued approximately 90 dogs from a property in Northwest Harris County. The animals were surrendered to the Houston SPCA by their owners and we are now working diligently to address each animal’s medical situation. The Houston SPCA investigations team received a call concerning the animal’s welfare and subsequently opened this investigation when the conditions of the dogs were discovered. The dogs, Shih Tzus and Shih Tzu mixes, are now in the care of the Houston SPCA.
The majority of the dogs have long standing medical issues to include matting, skin, eye and teeth issues, long toenails and have not been properly groomed. Currently, the Houston SPCA veterinary team and dedicated volunteers are evaluating each dog. Due to the number of animals, these evaluations could take multiple days. We will let the community know when these dogs become available for adoption by posting this information to our website at www.houstonspca.org.
The Houston SPCA is seeking the community’s help by issuing a plea for donations and foster homes to further our lifesaving work. Your donations will help provide rescue, food, medical care and shelter for these and all of the animals at the Houston SPCA until they are ready to be placed into loving homes. You can become a foster parent by filling out and submitting the online application form.
