Animal Behavior Technician
The Houston SPCA is accepting applications for the position of Animal Behavior Technician. This individual will assist the Animal Behavior Supervisor in the day-to-day activities of the Animal Behavior department. This position will provide assistance to volunteers, staff and the public by counseling on behavior issues based on departmental guidelines, teaching dog/cat training classes, assisting in volunteer behavior training, providing enrichment opportunities for animals in shelter and assessing the behavior of animals to determine adoptability. Animal Care Team Member
The Houston SPCA has an immediate need for Animal Care Team Members.  Successful individuals must be dedicated and hardworking with an interest in animal welfare. This is a fulltime position that requires excellent customer service and the ability to work with all kinds of animals.  Previous animal care experience preferred, but not required. Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment; great verbal and written communication skills; and be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Animal Care Team Member Barn
The Houston SPCA seeks experienced candidates to join our BARN staff.  Candidates must have previous experience with Equine and Farm Animals in a working capacity.  May also be asked to work with small animals.   Candidates will need to be able to able to lift 50 pounds (hay bales, grain bags) daily to supply care for 100+ horses and farm animals. BARN staff will maintain facilities (stall mucking), feed and groom animals,   provide customer service to potential adopters by communicating in a professional manner and be able to multi-task daily.  Computer knowledge/experience is also required. Animal Rescue Technician
Want to join a dedicated team of professionals who assist the community by responding to calls regarding injured and distressed animals?  The Houston SPCA is the only agency in our area providing an injured animal rescue service 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  Candidates must be comfortable handling animals, self motivated and dependable, have a good driving record, be able to work varied shift schedules (weekends and nights included), work in a variety of environmental conditions and be prepared to work as part of a team where other duties may be assigned.  For immediate consideration, Click here to fill out an on-line application.

Client Care Team Member
The Houston SPCA has an immediate opening for a full-time Client Care Team Member to provide customer service support to community members interested in adoptions or needing general information on the services provided by the Houston SPCA. Starting salary is $9.00 per hour. Schedule will include weekends and evenings. Dependable attendance is a must. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: providing general information to the public in a prompt, professional and friendly manner; providing to support the adoption area including greeting customers as they enter the facility and directing them to appropriate areas; answering questions regarding adopting an animal, explaining procedures and protocols and handling money. This position will also cross-train in other areas such as Admissions and the Call Center.

Executive Assistant
The Houston SPCA is seeking an Executive Assistant to support its President. This role requires a seasoned professional who can manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, plan and execute a meeting agenda and create flawless correspondence. The ability to communicate at a high level, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate "Executive Presence" and manage conflict are also key requirements for this role.

The successful candidate will have at least five years experience working for a senior executive and be highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Veterinary Services Supervisor

The Houston SPCA is currently seeking a Veterinary Services Supervisor for the shelter veterinary clinic.  This individual would be responsible for the daily supervision, scheduling and training of the team of veterinary technicians performing veterinary supportive care for examination, treatment and surgical anesthesia of shelter animals.  The Veterinary Services Supervisor is also responsible for assuring that the Houston SPCA euthanasia guidelines are followed and will participate in euthanasia as necessary.   This position includes opening/closing duties of the shelter and weekend hours.  Requirements for this position are a high school diploma or equivalent (Veterinary Technician Associates and/or business degree preferred) with a minimum of two years working in an animal related business (clinic, shelter, boarding facility, etc.) and two years in a supervisory role preferred.  Click here to fill out an on-line application.

Veterinary Technician
The Houston SPCA is currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to work in both our Admissions Clinic and Surgery Suite.  This successful candidate will be able to administer vaccinations and medication, draw blood, perform general physical examinations on all animals entering the facility, perform IV, IM and SC injections and intubate animals of all sizes.  Candidate must have knowledge of general anesthesia techniques and safety, animal handling and restraint and basic knowledge of surgery and recovery.  

This position will require general cleaning, autoclaving and wrapping instruments and packs.  All candidates must have basic computer skills. Applicant must have strong communication, organizational skills, be self-confident, motivated, and have the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of veterinary professionals and other staff members in a respectful manner; as well as interacting professionally and compassionately with the general public.  Licensed technicians are preferred, but consideration will be given to experienced, unlicensed technicians.   Euthanasia is a required part of the job and any candidate will need to be euthanasia certified within four months of hire.
