Staff Veterinarian
Houston SPCA seeks experienced, energetic Texas-licensed DVM to join three doctor team.  We provide an interesting and varied caseload.  Heavy surgery, evaluation and treatment of animals from cruelty cases and support of overall health program for shelter animals.  Competitive salary and benefits package includes vacation, sick/personal time, medical/dental, retirement, CE and more.  New grads considered.  The Houston SPCA is a not-for-profit corporation.  Our centrally located campus includes a 40,000 s.f. facility near Memorial Park with planned state-of-the art hospital expansion.  Contact Cynthia Ford, VP of Human Resources at

Accounting/Payroll Administrator
The Houston SPCA seeks an Accounting/Payroll Administrator to manage bi-weekly payroll including tracking of  time and attendance and accrual of vacation/paid time off benefit.  The role is also responsible for processing the organization’s accounts receivables/accounts payables and daily reconciliation of revenue from adoptions, admissions and donations. 
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a retail environment.   Individual must be able to manage multiple priorities, be customer service oriented and extremely detail oriented.  Although previous experience in an animal welfare environment is not required, the individual must support the Houston SPCA’s mission to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation.  Salary DOE.  Competitive benefits. Successful candidates will have experience managing in a fast paced, customer driven environment.  Position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, lead, develop and motivate a diverse staff, build teams and resolve conflict.   Strong computer skills, phone skills, organizational skills and time management are a must. Previous experience working in the animal welfare field desired, but not required. Clinic Technician
We are seeking an experienced technician for our admissions department.  This position requires the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with the general public, give vaccinations, draw blood, administer medications and perform general physical examinations on all animals entering our facility.  Euthanasia is a required part of the job and applicants will need to be euthanasia certified within four months of hire. Special Events Manager
The Houston SPCA is seeking
qualified candidates for the Special Events Manager position.  This candidate will be responsible for event fundraising management, which includes, budgeting and project management, recruitment and retention of event participants, sponsorship solicitation, donor/participant relations, in-kind donation solicitations and vendor relations.  Overall, the successful candidate will be able to foster strong working relationships with board and committee members, donors, volunteers and staff, continually evaluate current special events to determine if they are effective fundraising vehicles and investigate new ideas for future events. Bachelor’s degree required.  Candidate will have 3-5 years successful experience in non-profit event management and planning, along with a proven track record in fundraising program development and execution. Grant Writer/Publications Manager
The Houston SPCA is seeking candidates for the position of Grant Writer.  Under the supervision of the Vice President of Communication and Development, this successful candidate  facilitates research and development, writes, reviews, and edits departmental and/or institutional grant proposals; conducts basic research for potential funding sources and maintains databases; supports staff and leadership team in developing proposals.  The candidate will also be responsible for the writing and design of publications, marketing materials and advertising material. Bachelor's degree supplemented with 1 year of related working experience. Candidate must have basic knowledge of grant guidelines with excellent writing and research skills. Director of Human Resources
Must love dogs….and cats…and Staffing!  The Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA) is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Leader to build its infrastructure in the areas of recruitment, policies and procedure development, management training and employee relations. The role also requires previous experience with change management and strategic planning.   The position will manage a small team, including an entry level generalist and volunteer services manager.  The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree and 5-7 years human resources management experience in non-profit, hotel/hospitality or retail environment.  The position is fulltime, requiring flexibility for weekends and evenings as needed.  The ability and desire to work around all types of animals is also a must.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Benefits include medical, dental, 403(b) participation and paid time off.  Please visit the website at

Animal Care Team Member - BARN:

The Houston SPCA seeks experienced candidates to join our BARN staff.  Candidates must have previous experience working with Horses and Farm Animals.  May also be asked to work with small animals.  Candidates will need to be able to able to lift 70 pounds (hay bales, grain bags) daily to supply care for up to 100 horses and farm animals. BARN staff will maintain facilities (stall/paddock mucking), feed and groom animals,   provide customer service to potential adopters by communicating in a professional manner and be able to multi-task daily.  Computer knowledge/experience is also required.  Resumes can be e-mailed to SPCA Jobs

BARN Manager

The Houston SPCA is seeking candidates to serve as Equine and Farm Animal Manager.  This position leads a staff of 4 in the care and placement of horses, pigs, goats, sheep and a variety of other animals at the Houston SPCA.  The role is part of the Animal Welfare Management team and will be required to coordinate with other members of that team (Animal Care, Client Care, Foster Care, Veterinary team) to determine the best interests of these animals.  The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience working with Equine and Farm Animals and will be committed to the mission of the Houston SPCA.   This position requires previous experience managing in a fast paced, customer driven environment.
