Foster Home Care Program

What is Fostering? A foster home temporarily houses and cares for an animal until it is ready to come back for adoption.

Why do we have a Foster Program? The Houston SPCA receives numerous animals that for various reasons can not go up for adoption at the time of admitting. (Injured, ill or immature)  An additional program is in place for animals that have been at the shelter too long and need a break.

How long does it take to foster? Depending on the situation, a foster commitment could be anywhere from 7-10 days or as long as 6-8 weeks.
       
What does the SPCA provide? The Houston SPCA provides the medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, crates and linens.

How do I join? Turn in a completed Foster application. Then attend the two Saturday morning training sessions. We will go over everything with you.
