Give Your Kids the Critter Camp Experience
Join us at the Houston SPCA this summer for week-long adventures including Vet Camp, Animal Rescue and Forensics, and Pet Pals at one of the leading animal rescue and protection organizations in the country.   • Campers will meet some new friends (and maybe see some old ones!).
  • Learn something new from real animal experts including veterinarians, veterinary nurses as well as animal cruelty investigators and animal rescue techs as well as wildlife specialists.
  • Play indoor and outdoor games like Giant Jenga and Corn Hole or Arena Volleyball.
  • Make some cool crafts and treats for themselves and pets in need.
  • Multiple interactions with adoptable pets each day.
Critter Camp FAQ

Critter Camp is held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Houston SPCA’s Carruth Education Center located at 7007 Old Katy Road, Houston, TX 77024, adjacent to the Adoption Center. Parents and Caregivers are required to sign in and sign out your Camper each day. If you also signed up for Before Care, arrival is 8 a.m. and After Care is from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Your Camper will get to meet some real animal experts including veterinarians, veterinary nurses as well as animal cruelty investigators and wildlife specialists; play indoor/outdoor games like Giant Jenga and Corn Hole or arena volleyball; make crafts or treats for pets in need and spend some time each day with a variety of our adoptable pets.

Campers are REQUIRED to wear long pants and closed toed shoes to protect their legs and feet during multiple animal interactions each day. They are encouraged to bring a light sweater as the building can be cold.

Your Camper is required to bring a lunch and a water bottle. They are also encouraged to bring a light sweater. While Campers are discouraged from bringing electronic devices, we ask they only use them before camp, after camp or during lunch.

Yes! An afternoon snack will be provided for each Camper. However, you are certainly welcome to pack an additional snack.

In addition to all of the fun we have in store for your Camper, they will also have 3 animal interactions each day. Approximately 1 ½ hours visiting with a large dog, a small dog, and a cat chosen from our adoptable animals as well as possible trips to the Equine Center, based on availability. Please note, they are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.

Campers will walk under the covered walkways in between buildings on our campus and may visit an animal outside in our Equine Center. They will also have a chance to venture out for some covered outdoor fun with oversized games like Giant Jenga or play volleyball in the covered Rescue Arena.

Please know that we will have safety protocols in place during our Critter Camps this summer. Temperature checks will be made each morning at check-in, and all Campers are required to wear a facemask. We will be practicing social distancing, as well as using hand sanitizer and washing hands.
