HOUSTON (July 8, 2021) – Houston SPCA animal cruelty investigators arrived at a Southeast Houston property earlier today to rescue two mares and one stallion who were emaciated and residing in poor living conditions. They soon discovered there was one more horse in need: a one-day-old foal barely standing at his emaciated mother’s side. The rescue team took immediate action to ensure the baby was quickly brought back to their campus with the rest of the horses. He was reconnected with his mom where he will remain until there is a custody hearing in the coming weeks. The Houston SPCA’s award-winning equine and farm animal team have already started the starving horses on a nutritional diet and will slowly re-introduce food.
