Houston SPCA Prepares For Influx of Storm Victims

238 Animals Were Driven to Austin or Flown to Dallas/Ft. Worth

(HOUSTON) August 25, 2020 – This afternoon 238 animals made their way to Austin and the North Dallas area as the Houston SPCA continues to prepare for the influx of animals once Hurricane Laura makes landfall. The transports allow the animal protection organization to focus on emergency services during and after the hurricane.

Wings of Rescue flew coastal pets from Galveston Humane including 57 cats, 20 dogs, three rabbits, and one three-legged mouse while the Houston SPCA and Austin Humane transported 102 cats and 28 dogs, while 27 baby squirrels went into the care of the Austin Wildlife Rescue.

The Houston SPCA is always prepared to serve our community and animals in need, and Hurricane Laura is no exception. We extend our gratitude to Wings of Rescue, Galveston Island Humane Society and Austin Humane Society for their partnership. Please follow @HoustonSPCA.
